# Welcome to Rivet

> What Rivet is, who it's for, and what day one actually looks like.

If you're a therapist, social worker, counsellor, or allied-health practitioner
in private practice in Canada, Rivet is the place where your phone, your
voicemails, your texts, your video sessions, your clinical templates, and your
EMDR work all live in one app. Your clients reach you at one URL —
`getrivet.ca/your-name` — and you handle every channel of communication from
the same inbox.

## What you get on day one

* **A local Canadian phone number** for your practice. Voice + SMS. Yours
forever while you're a Rivet customer.
* **A Rivet URL** — `getrivet.ca/your-name`. Your clients save it once and
use it forever to join sessions.
* **A shared inbox** for voicemails and texts. Every missed call is
transcribed, classified, and waiting — no listening through messages one
  by one.
* **An auto-reply** that texts your clients back the moment they leave a
voicemail, so nobody waits in silence while they wait to hear from you.
* **A waiting room** at your URL. Clients click, see your name, and wait.
You let them in when you're ready.
* **A video session room** with clinical templates, in-session whiteboard,
  and EMDR 2.0 built in.

You don't change your existing phone system. You don't migrate clients. You
don't ask anybody to download an app. You forward your missed calls to your
new Rivet number, give clients your URL, and the rest sorts itself out.

## Who Rivet is for

Rivet is built for solo and small-team practitioners who want one tool for
the communication side of practice. The typical Rivet practitioner is:

* A therapist or counsellor in private practice
* Seeing 10–40 clients per week
* Using Jane, Owl, Practice Better, or a similar EHR for charting and
  scheduling
* Tired of juggling a personal cell, a separate VoIP line, a generic video
link, and a shared Google Doc of session notes

If you run a multi-practitioner group practice and need shared inboxes,
team triage, and an SMS pipeline tuned for high call volume, that exists
too — different surface, same backbone. Email **[hello@getrivet.ca](mailto:hello@getrivet.ca)** and
we'll get you on the right track.

Rivet doesn't chart, doesn't schedule, doesn't bill insurance. Jane and
Owl do those things well; Rivet handles the parts they were never built

## What day one looks like

You finish the eight-question signup at `getrivet.ca/start`. A sign-in
email lands within a minute. You tap it and you're in.

The first screen is the data processing agreement, on its own. Agree to
it and you land on your Waiting Room — already yours, with the link you
chose during signup sitting there ready. Copy it and you can have someone
join you on video right away. Nothing is asked of you.

Your practice line is set up within a few hours of signing up. The setup
guide in the corner says so while it's in progress, and the keypad shows
the number once it's ready. Everything else is yours immediately: the
waiting room, a test session, your greeting, your auto-reply. When the
number appears, save it to your contacts and you're operational.

Rivet emails you when something happens, not on a schedule. Signing up
brings a short welcome with your room link in it, ready to send to a
colleague. When your practice line is ready, another email arrives with
the number in it. They come from Adam at Rivet, and replying to either of
them reaches a person.

The articles in this section walk you through each of those steps, one by
one, in the order they happen.
