Rivet is the session app for independent therapists in Canada. The core of it is your clinical work: video sessions with a permanent waiting-room URL, an EMDR workspace with bilateral stimulation built in, an editable whiteboard with 29 therapy presets, a library of clinical templates (screening measures, CBT and behavioural worksheets, EMDR templates, crisis tools, and six clinician-administered measures), and SOAP / DAP / treatment-plan notes that stay in your browser. Underneath the session sits a practice phone. A business number you can give clients without exposing your cell. A voicemail inbox that transcribes every call. Two-way texting from the same thread the voicemail came in on. Eleven auto-response categories that text a new caller back in under ten seconds — so the missed call you took between sessions doesn’t become someone else’s client. One product. One URL (getrivet.ca/your-name). One monthly subscription that replaces the typical therapist stack of Doxy, a separate texting line, and an after-hours answering service.

Who Rivet is for

Solo private practice

Psychologists, registered psychotherapists, social workers, counsellors running their own practice. Rivet plays the role a front desk would play in a larger clinic.

Canadian privacy expectations

Designed to be consistent with PIPEDA and PHIPA. Voicemail audio and transcription processed locally in Canada. Sessions are not recorded. No client data sent to cloud AI services.

What Rivet isn’t

Not an EHR

Charting, scheduling, billing — those stay in Jane, Owl, Practice Better, or whatever you use. Rivet handles the communication and session layer those tools were never built for.

Not an AI receptionist

Rivet never picks up a live call. Clients hear your greeting, in your voice. The auto-response text is a template you write — not an AI generating prose to your clients.

Not a phone-system replacement

Keep your carrier. Keep your personal number. Forward missed calls to your Rivet number — that’s the only change to your existing setup.

Not a generic video platform

Built around how therapy actually runs — permanent waiting room, EMDR workspace, in-session templates, practitioner-private notes — not a repurposed meeting room.

How Rivet fits with what you already have

You don’t tear anything out. Your existing phone keeps working; you set up forwarding so missed calls land in Rivet instead of the carrier’s voicemail. Your charting software stays where it is — Rivet doesn’t try to be a chart. And clients don’t install anything. They click your URL, see your waiting room, and join from the browser.
