Signup is a single page at getrivet.ca/start — six questions, one at a time, the same shape as a Typeform. No credit card. Total time from “What’s your email?” to “Start my free trial” is usually under two minutes.

The six fields, in order

1

Email

The address you’ll use to sign in to Rivet. Use a professional address if you have one — it’s the only address Rivet will ever email you at, and the same one you’ll type into the app when you sign in on a new device.
2

First name

What we call you in emails and the welcome screen. Your first name is fine.
3

Practice name

The name your clients see when Rivet texts them on your behalf — for example, on the auto-reply that goes out after a missed call. If you practise under your own name, just put your name. If you have a practice name (“Riverside Counselling”), use that.
4

Your mobile number

The cell phone Rivet will text you at. We use it to send you a notification when your number is live, and to reach you if anything needs your attention during setup. North American format ((519) 555-1234 or 5195551234 both work).
5

The city your practice is in

Drives the phone-number search. Rivet looks for available numbers in your local area code first, so your clients see a number they recognise when you call them back. Use the actual city your practice operates out of — Windsor, Calgary, Halifax — not the closest metro.
6

Your practice line

Three Canadian numbers in your area, picked live from the carrier. Choose the one you like the look of, agree to receive transactional emails about your account, complete the “Verify you are human” check, and tap Start my free trial.

What happens after you submit

Rivet creates your account, kicks off the work of provisioning your phone number, and routes you to one of two screens depending on what device you’re on:

On a desktop

A magic-link email lands in your inbox within a minute. Tap the link on the device you want to use Rivet on. The link expires in one hour — if you miss the window, sign in at next.getrivet.ca and request a new one.

On a phone

You go straight to an install screen with App Store and Play Store links. Install the Rivet app, open it, sign in with the email you just used, and the in-app sign-in handles auth.
Check spam first if the email doesn’t show up. First emails from a new sending domain often land in spam — Gmail and Outlook are aggressive about new senders. If you find it there, mark it as “Not Spam” so future Rivet emails route to your inbox.

Why the form asks for so little

The signup form deliberately doesn’t ask for:
  • A credit card. The 14-day trial is no-card. Billing only enters the picture if you decide to keep Rivet at the end of the trial.
  • Your licence number, college, or specialty. None of that is needed to operate a phone line and a video room.
  • A business address. Your practice address belongs in your EHR, not in Rivet’s signup form.
Everything Rivet needs to send the right area code and route your notifications, you give in those six fields. Everything else gets handled inside the app, when you actually need it.
